Dos Reis Regional Park

03/06/2023 - We had a wonderful stop in Stockton, CA. Wonderful visit with my brother-in-law Oscar Russell and his family. We stayed at a little county park next to a canal near Stockton.

Buena Vista Aquatic Park

03/06/2023 - We spent two nights at Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Center near Bakersfield, CA on our way to see Elizabeth's brother Oscar and his family. Nice little park on a lake. Beautiful sunsets, but both times I didn't have my camera with me.

Carpinteria

03/03/20233 - Stopped in yesterday at Carpinteria to check on Tinman the Teardrop update. Work is being done by Eric at CarpDory, we love his Dory's. Here are some pics at the State Beach.

Mo and Jelly the Beginning

In 2022 as our retirement approached, we decided that we wanted to travel and see the country. So we started looking for a home on wheels to allow us this adventure.

Maureen is longer, bigger, newer and cost more than we had wanted to pay. But she hit the spots we were needing to be scratched, and not too far out on any part. She's big and waddles where ever she goes. She's strong and climbs mountains while passing semi-trucks, even with the wind blowing her around. The throb of her 7.3 liter engine while cruising is soothing to the ears, while her scream after downshifting to climb up the steep roads is deafening. She is as comfortable in heavy traffic on the 12 lane I-405 as she is on winding roads in the of the Ozarks.

Jelly is our adventurous one. Like your grade school friend's step mom, Jelly looks great, but there are blemishes. Fading paint, slippery shifting, and banging U joints, driving shows Jelly hasn't been babied through life. And actually dislikes the wind more than Mo, as the wind blows the Jeepster about in heavy wind. The preferred route is of course off road. Sand and gravel to kick up, rocks to climb and mud to splash, just like a 4 year old running free outside.

The First Leg of our Journey

Our first route was to get us to St. Louis by the first week of April. the above image is a timeline of my travels in March ending us in Kansas City.
